Fuel Your Yoga Practice. Easy, Nutritious Date Nut Butter Treats
The Joy of Community, Yoga, and Nourishing Snacks
One of the most beautiful aspects of practicing yoga is the community it creates. There’s something special about moving and breathing together in a space filled with like-minded people who share a passion for wellness, mindfulness, and self-care. At Soul Society Yoga, we love that our members not only connect on the mat but also outside of class—swapping tips, experiences, and even delicious recipes!
Recently, one of our newest members, Brooke, shared a simple yet incredibly tasty treat that’s perfect for fueling your yoga practice. These date and nut butter treats are an amazing pre- or post-yoga snack, giving you just the right balance of natural sugars, healthy fats, and protein. Plus, they double as a satisfying, wholesome dessert alternative!
Brooke’s Date & Nut Butter Treats
Ingredients:
I found these dates at our local Safeway.
Whole dates with pit
Nut butter of choice (almond, peanut, cashew, etc.)
Coarse sea salt
Raw honey
Dark chocolate (for shavings)
Instructions:
Slice dates lengthwise and remove the pit.
Fill the center with a small dollop of your favorite nut butter.
Sprinkle with a pinch of coarse sea salt.
Drizzle lightly with raw honey.
Using a peeler, shave dark chocolate curls on top.
Refrigerate until ready to eat and enjoy!
The Perfect Pre- or Post-Yoga Snack
Eating before or after yoga requires a little mindfulness. A full stomach can make certain poses uncomfortable, so it's best to avoid eating heavy meals 1-2 hours before practice. However, if you need a little boost of energy—especially if you tend to feel light-headed—Brooke’s date and nut butter treats are an excellent option.
Dates provide a natural source of quick energy, as they are packed with carbohydrates and natural sugars, making them easy to digest. Nut butter adds protein and healthy fats, helping to sustain energy levels and keep you feeling full longer. A pinch of sea salt replenishes electrolytes, raw honey offers antioxidants and antimicrobial benefits, and dark chocolate provides a dose of magnesium, which supports muscle recovery and relaxation.
